I own SD2SNES and Everdrive N8, all originals, because i support Krikzz job. This chinese Mega Everdrive use his old design with flash memory not like current ones FPGA. Chinese ME will brick if used later firmware updates (they cracked early firmware). Same situation is with ED64 Plus for N64 (but it uses same FPGA like original early ED64). On the other hand Chinese SD2SNES (also FPGA based) have better situation since firmware creator from Germany called Ikari do it open source, and I compared my original version with Chinese one, and it plays almost the same, differences are only cosmetics (lot worse soldering job etc.). So if aby of you wanna almost perfect compability with games get this chinese cheap cart, new revisions called SD2SNES Pro will be better for future most likely only for homebrew kind of conversions with video's or better quality sound since it uses more capable FPGA.

Man… the PAL versions of these famous Genesis/Megadrive games just fucking KILL ME with how they're slightly slowed down. Poor PAL regions played Sonic 2 Chemical Plant Zone without the proper speed and intensity of that ABSOLUTE FUCKING BANGER of a soundtrack to push them on. Still, glad to hear that people who grew up with it evidently weren't bothered by it. I always just thought it was silly that it took so long for games and the speed they run at to be standardized globally due to the 50hz or 60hz discrepancy across regions. :0

1:30 & 5:44 No, they aren't that expensive. Krikzz's Mega Everdrive X3 is $54.
4:55 Well, you paid less for that flash cart, and therefore you have slower loadings. 😉 If you don't want to wait for the game to load, than you need to pay more for Krikzz's flash carts.

These clones are not that great.
They draw too much power and may kill your PSU in the long run.
Also, they use flash memory instead of SDRAM, making the load times longer.
Also, Flash has a limited number of writes. Even if you technically won't hit that limit in 50 years time, it's still something to note

Thank you for making this video. I was really thinking to get this bootleg version. This review has confirmed, that I’d buy the x3 buy Krikz. But then the mega SG has an everdrive as well. The SG with the 32 x add on is probably the best solution. Also now that the Analogue DAC is out makes the SG even more desirable.

Just a suggestion, why not buy a Genesis? With a 220v to 110v power converter and play the games in fullscreen (no black bars) 60fps it's really worth the effort imo 👌 and it's not that expensive to do so.

It ran the games really well and has options/cheats etc. It's just let down by the slow, SLOW copy/erase speeds. If they could… even HALVE the time it takes to copy/erase it would be an instant buy for a lot of people. Thank you for the review! 😀
