Shouldn't you use silicone sealant on the endcaps and crimp them rather than screw them on? That way you have a leakproof connection with no hole penetration.
I do this for a living, All wrong, piecing together gutter is the worst, gutter from most building supply places is so thin (.017) that anything heavier than a little bit of water will rip them apart, 1/2 of fall of fall over 10' is mega overkill 1/4 at most is more then enough you can get a way with an 1/8 or less, it's water people gravity is a thing, I could go on but I'll leave it at that, call your local gutter suppler then can get you much better products then any chain stores even if you want to install them yourself.
@6:49, you have the perfect angle to show us what to do. Great video over all. Thank you. One question: do you go under/behind the drip edge? My roof has the shingles running flush with the edge of the roof, no over lap. Then I got a couple inches of drip edge, followed up with abt 3” of facia. Do you agree I should go under/behind the drip edge? Thanks again for the informative video!
Glad I found this. I recently had my porch enclosed & didn't want to wait wait weeks to have gutters put up. I have the old gutter already so I'm going to simply re-install it at the new location.
Cool
I can't believe how many people actually took time out of their day to comment negatively or puff out their chest like they're more knowledgeable. Come on, this is an instructional video for a beginner DIY'er and this video is an exceptional tool for that purpose. You want seamless gutters? Then pay someone a boat load of money to have seamless installed. That's not what this video is for.
Great video guys!
Super easy to understand. Great teaching.
This is definitely not a professional video! I actually install seamless gutters for a living. U look like u have never done gutter work before. A lot of piss poor steps u have. Very unprofessional and im not kidding around.
Thanks for sharing friend watching from Canada 🇨🇦orig from Bohol Philippines 🇵🇭
Why would you screw back into the gutter . It will only become a leaf catcher . You could have screwed those into the soffit at the joint section . Otherwise , great vid .
Noice!
Better to crimp and caulk end caps on gutters instead of drilling. Screws look cleaner seals better also nailing up gutter straps hold better gutter screws tend to snap heads off over time but great work over all
thank you very much. very helpful
Very helpful I got an interview today at an gutter company and this video has given me the confidence I need…
Thank you Sir. 🙏
Thank you for a great explanation and video sir. God bless.
1/8" slope @ 10' min, 1/4" is max @ 10'. A 40' gutter run @ your 1/2" slope would have your gutter moving water very quickly to the down spout end and potentially have a overflow issue during downpours. Roof line may look whanky also.
15 feet 2 and 3 quarter inches… mate don't swear at me. It's 4642mm's. Solid video though, cheers.
What a great video. No stupid intro, no stupid back ground music. Right to the point with clearly explaining every step of the way. A job well done sir, thank you. I don't skip commercial on videos like yours.
TY for the good explanations. I had a few questions but you mostly answered them in the two-year update. It does seem (no pun) that others all do the seams and slope differently from each other (art > science). You did switch from stating .5 inch slope/ten ft in this 2017 vid. to .25 inch. in the 2nd vid.. (error or change of procedure??). Either way, it is ~impossible to have a slope on 25'+ gutter AND have the gutter BEHIND the drip edge w/o monster flashing by the drain end. Also, unless I hear differently, your 2nd vid w/ the leak convinced me that I will just overlap my 10' pieces by 1', seal, rivet and ensure each new segment is on the bottom. I encourage everyone to clip on the sponsors above! Tim, MN
My gutter hangers are four feet a part. They are steel gutters and I live in a warm climate with occasional rainfall. I’ve heard three feet is the max but it’s either two feet or four feet the way my house is put together. Would you recommend every two feet or is four feet ok?
Show the caulking
Why wouldnt you have bent out a whole 30ft piece? I dont understand..
Good luck achieving proper slope with a drip edge that narrow on anything longer than ~20' runs…you can't. You'll eventually need to hang the gutter below the drip edge instead of behind it, and the transition point is a headache of cutting the edge and bending and bs
Very well done video!! It was informative and straight to the point!! Thank you!!!!
5/5 Dave GREAT work! Learned so freakin' much thanks a boat load!
Very helpful thank you!
Thank you
Would it work better if I drilled the ends to the fascia first followed by the middle section? Around 7:40 you mentioned something about “this part is a little high” and tapped it down. Wouldn’t you have trouble making it move lower if most of the section was drilled in?
Great video. Thank you!
So at the end, the gutter is far below the drip edge?
Thank you very much .
K-style gutters from Lowe's and Home Depot are available in both 10 and16-foot lengths. Not sure why this guy has three seams in a 21-foot span.
@6:50 I think it would have been best to tuck the gutter under and behind the drip edge so water doesn't run down behind the gutter onto the face of the facia board…a drip behind the gutter is super annoying…
worst installation look at the drip edge lmfaooo dumb guy..
This is the absolute worst demonstration of gutter installation I have ever seen oh my god this man has no idea what he is doing
And the caulk smells like rancid vinegar
So easy…..good job for the pay.theres literally not much labor in it….now im framing but damn gutters was fun….
Very helpful. Answered several questions I had after I tried to do it myself. Thanks.
I noticed your flashing is not extended into the gutter at approx the 9 foot mark, due to your slope. What do you do at that point? I imagine water will drip behind the gutter and stain the facia board.
