So the best way to save money on retro games is to learn Japanese
Dude stop. This is going to cause price gougers to recognise this as an untapped market
Hmm yeah that DKC collection may LOOK to be in good condition Jon, and I think you’d be forgiven for buying it without a second thought; but people are terribly skilled with Photoshop and MS Paint these days—ALWAYS READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION EVERYONE!
I noticed this with pokemon games back about 6 months ago and picked up leafgreen and sapphire for $20 a piece. Now they're up to about 40 to 50, so people are starting to catch on that Japanese games are a great alternative
That's because Japan is a less greedy country than America
That postcode: I know how it is, sometimes I’m also just too anxious to get my Ebay order, and so I use my phone to have it sent to whichever restaurant or eatery I happen to be currently sitting or standing or running in.
Ikr
Hope this video doesn't raise prices!
I like Jon’s chair directly beside the window and facing the same window; it is a good chair and a good window, too.
I have consoles from different regions too: most are from Europe and then I have one Martian Gamecube which is pretty rare.
I know it’s sacrilege but… I’m telling y’all, I was a hardcore collector of physical media for decades (still kinda dabble but mainly for flipping…long story). When I turned to emulation, my entire world changed. Things ar endow convenient to play, everything is through HDMI, they have save states if you’d like, you can make screen adjustments for modern TVs, the list goes on. Until these companies make it easier to play legacy content, emulation is the way people.
Kinda deceiving you need to look at sold price, you should look at pricing charts. I hate it when someone at a garage sale say mario on nes is 50 because eBay is the selling price and a 2 million one sold online recently . Were sold prices show 12
Nice room Jon! Is it like a separate room from your house? If that’s the case, I tentatively plan on doing something like that and adding on to my garage on the back to make a game room for both video games and table top games! Love your space you have there, it’s great!
Maybe I'm wrong about this but I think certain games would give me a hard time selecting options in Japanese. I think this would be particularly bad in RPGs like final fantasy.
The second-hand-market is out of control. But the Jon WILL return it to order.
I have gotten candy, origami & a thank you on top of a completely free bonus game one time. It all depends on the seller & what was purchased. It’s also one of the reasons I love the Japanese market. Was able to get a copy of Magical Chase for the PC Engine for a fraction of what the US Version would cost.
So here’s my question: why is there such a difference?
This is honest work…
Bought a copy of Mother 2 with a very sunfaded box for about $15 shipped. It's crazy how cheap japanese games are.
Yeah it's ridiculous. This is an era of scammers. eBay has killed the pricing for so many things, even for comics.
Game collecting isn’t fun anymore because of the price spiral. Even my local game store is charging $10-$15 for trash tier PS2 and GameCube games. Want a game that’s any good? Looking at at least $40 but realistically $60+.
It just isn’t enjoyable when you’d have to spend a whole weeks paycheck just for a couple games that used to cost a few bucks 5 years ago
Jon bragging about how many walls he has. Meh
Investing your money in retro games in the US is more solid than a 401k right now. Less volatile and a larger return.
I wish I was Japanese.
When Nintendo Life uploads a new video:
Yes and no. Japan is all the rage these days so the prices are catching up, sometimes far more expensive than their western counterparts. Megadrive is pretty brutal.
